Overview
The SL1000 Q is a digital microform scanner developed and manufactured by the Japanese company Kyokko Seiko (Kyoto). It is the successor to the SL1000: according to the manufacturer, more than 2,600 units of the SL1000 have been sold, and it has gained worldwide recognition as the standard for screenless microfilm scanners. The SL1000 Q is small and lightweight and has no screen of its own: the scanner connects to a computer, the image is displayed on the monitor, and frames are saved to files or sent for printing.
The new series adds blip search (blips are frame marks on roll film) and quieter operation thanks to a new zoom lens. The scanner works with microfiche, jackets, aperture cards, 16/35 mm roll film, 16 mm cartridges (type A and M), and micro-opaques — color and monochrome, negative and positive. According to the manufacturer, more than 410 SL1000 Q scanners have been sold: over 70 to the National Diet Library, the National Archives of Japan, and other government institutions, and more than 220 for export. In Japan, the series is sold through Konica Minolta under the name LS5000.

Motorized roll film carrier model (LS5100R in Japan): 404 × 430 × 204 mm, max. 15.0 kg and 60 W.
SL1000 Q Blip
1-level blip search model (LS5200B in Japan): accurate, high-speed automatic frame search and file output. The blip search unit is removable: without it, the scanner works with 16/35 mm roll film and sheet microforms. 404 × 430 × 204 mm, max. 15.0 kg and 60 W.
