Overview
The Qidenus Smart Book Scanner is a manual planetary book scanner for individual work based on the “one operator, one book” principle. The manufacturer highlights its affordable price, ease of use, and innovative design, combined with high image quality and good throughput. The scanner comes in two formats: A2 (books up to 58 × 44 cm) and A1 (up to 82 × 61 cm); it accepts originals up to 16 cm thick and scans up to 1,000 pages per hour.
The operator has full control over the V-shaped cradle with its 100° opening angle, the glass plate position, and the scanning pace. The narrow opening angle and adjustable side flaps keep the binding from opening too wide and support the spine. Images are captured by cameras with CMOS sensors, and the lighting comes from LEDs designed to museum standards, with no UV/IR emission; according to the manufacturer, the scanner can operate in compliance with the FADGI and Metamorfoze preservation standards.
